Happy First Birthday iftiSEO: Journey So Far

IftiSEO Turns 1!!!

One year, One Community, One Family, it all started with you!! 21st January 2014, well this date is very special for me as it marked the beginning of this very blog iftiSEO.com. Yes guys, iftiSEO is now 1 year old and this post it to share my journey of blogging through iftiSEO over the past 1 year. All credit goes to MY READERS who always supported me.

iftiSEO - Your Benefit Our Happiness !!! Well the name was kept after my nickname �ifti� and SEO was added as I my main aim was to share SEO related content through it. To be honest the name sounded quite odd for like 2 months and then I got used to it and now I really love my choice.


iftiSEO Turns One


Started without a custom domain on November 2013 with absolutely no knowledge about blogging or SEO, the main aim was to teach others about the various SEO techniques and online earning methods along with my own learning. And by 21st January 2014 I was confident enough to take a custom domain and mark the real beginning of my blogging journey. I still remember I had no source (paypal/Credit card) to buy the domain and my friend Rohit Chugh bought the domain for me. I would like to thank him for his support during my initial stages.

I really had no idea of SEO, blogging, Internet Marketing or anything related but I had the interest & Passion and that�s what kept me moving, I started reading various blogs under my niche and that helped me learn a lot.

I cannot name the blogs as there were many which I followed regularly. By March-April I was very well aware of all these terms related to blogging and I statrted understading SEO. And now it's the most interesting thing for me. 

One more thing that kept me and iftiSEO alive was facebook, I saw various bloggers uploading their success reports, income screen shots and traffic stats regularly and that really kept me up every time. hehehe!!!

Within 5 months the blog was very well established under the eyes of Google and I started sensing authority of my blog as my posts started ranking for many top keywords with high number of searches. This in turn increased my blog traffic and ultimately my Alexa rank.

I know Alexa ain�t any factor to determine a blog's success, but its what advertisers look for and with an Alexa under 100k I started getting mails for guest posts and sponsored posts as well.


So sponsored posts and paid reviews brought the first income of iftiSEO, though the first was for just 35$ but later it increased upto 200$.

You might be thinking about adsense on iftiSEO, well it was banned in the very first month which I was never ready for. Google called it �INVALID ACTIVITY� which I never understood as I never tried to violate any of the Google Adsense Rules. Moreover they banned my domain which meant I can never use AdSense on iftiSEO again but it wasn�t an end for me. This opened up various other opportunities for me and I started focusing & learning Affiliate Marketing, Freelancing, etc etc and that helped me double my income in less than a month.

Today the stats of iftiSEO are quite good, getting a good traffic, Alexa under 30k, Regular Advertisers etc

Well blogging on iftiSEO wasn�t the only thing I did in 2014. I tried many other money making techniques from affiliate marketing to YouTube CPA. Many tests and experiments failed while many were a charm for me.

iftiSEO Achievements in 2014The first year was really phenomenal for iftiSEO and for me as it came up with many achievements and rewards. I would Like to list some of my individual and my blog's achievements.

Firstly, this whole journey brought a massive change in me. Improved my writing skills, communication skills, technical skills and as a whole I improved my overall skills. With a powerful community of bloggers around, I was always supported by everyone and it helped me build relationships with the people of my community. I made many new friends from around the globe an it really makes me feel good. 


The numbers are increasing daily and I'm really happy to see the rise. Moreover iftiSEO.com also got featured on many blogs under various titles. I'm listing out some of them. 



I also got interviewed by many bloggers and that was again a big achievement for iftiSEO.


Many of you would still ask me about my earnings last year through iftiSEO and other blogs, well I can't reveal it completely but yes all I can say is its a 6 Figure income in Indian Rupees. 

Event Based Blogging

Event Based Blogging iftiSEOOne thing that I always wanted to try was �EVENT BLOGGING�, as I saw some of my blogging friends making huge amount of money through it. So I decided to give it a try and the event I picked was �FIFA World Cup 2014 Brazil�, Karan Wyas from itechcolumn a very good friend of mine was my partner for the event.


Since we both were die hard football fans, it was not a tough task for us to make a blog on it. Writing content was no big deal for us while the off-page work did needed some hard work. But ultimately the hard work and dedication paid off and we ranked globally in over 100 countries with many keywords like

And many more!!! We got over 30 million page views from the event and this made us a very huge amount from AdSense, Infolinks, Direct Advertisers and some other ad networks.

We then also covered some other sporting events throughout the year and made a good amount money. So Event Blogging was a huge success for me and my event partner Karan Wyas.

Moreover we are also doing some more events this year and January itself has brought me over 2000$ :)

Most of us even after having good traffic stats, Alexa rank and even DA are unable to get advertisers for sponsored post. There are many more questions which will be answered in this post as I bring you the   Complete Guide on Paid Reviews and Sponsored Posts

And by the way this post is again based on what my readers wanted. I just did a small survey of what post they would like to have first at iftiSEO and this was their pick. Hurray for them!!!


What are Sponsored Posts/Reviews? 

Well, a Sponsored post is just an article or blog post published on your blog on a request of an advertiser for some fee. 

So it's basically like an advertiser comes to us asking for promoting his/her product by a blog post on our blog and pays us some amount. The amount may vary from 10$-500$ depending upon your website stats (Analytics, PR, DA, Alexa, etc.).

Many blogs make half of their monthly income by just posting sponsored content, so don't overlook this earning source.


When can we start getting advertisers for Sponsored Posts?

Hmm!! A very Common question. Well, yeah there are some criterias that the advertisers look for before approving any blog for a sponsored post.

Since the advertisers REALLY want to promote their products or services among thier audience they only look for blogs that:
  • Can satisfy their needs, 
  • Blogs that can help them build trust among the users
  • Blogs that can meet upto thier expectations, 
  • Blogs that can help them make sales, 
  • Blogs that can gain them subscribers, 
  • Blogs that can even bring them "TRAFFIC", 
  • Blogs that can expose them to different audiences and a lot more...
So, the advertisers look for many things before coming up with a proposal and if your blog satisfies any of their needs you will get approved by them. 

Wait a sec!! There's one more question that may come in your mind!!! Is it ??
I mentioned some of the key points that the advertisers look for in your blog, but how ?? What do they check?? What stats do they prefer to analyse???

The advertisers don't have your blog's analytics stats or traffic stats, so they always go for checking up some external sources and analyse it. Let me list some:

  • Alexa Rank- This is probably the first and the most important thing an advertiser look before accepting your blog.
  • DA and PA- Domain authority and Page Authority by Moz also explains a lot about your website/blog and due to this very reason most of the advertisers check these stats. 
  • Social Stats- Big advertisers do focus on a blog's social following as they want their product review to get exposed everywhere on a blog network.
  • Competition- Advertisers also look for blogs that already have posted sponsored reviews/posts before as this thing gives them a sense of relief that the blog is already trusted by other advertisers. 
  • Ranking- I don't know whether advertisers check for this or not, but if I would be an advertiser I would definately check up a blogs ranking. By ranking I mean that I would just check up the blog's post and see where it got ranked (First page, second page or so on). 

I know that after reading till this point your mind still have some questions!! Ahh!! Let me try guessing them and answer them as well. So you might be thinking that what are the preferable stats a blog must have so that it can easily get approved by advertisers?




Recommended Stats to get Sponsored reviews

Well the answer to this cannot be straight and simple but I will answer it according to my experience and I guess it will help you a lot, since I do get a lot of requests by advertisers. 

  • Alexa Rank- Under 100k and you will start receiving requests or you can try sending requests. My first sponsored post on this blog came when my site was ranked 73000 in the world as per Alexa. Under 50k Alexa rank will never turn away the advertisers from your blog and such rank can even get you 100$ per post. My blog ranked at 23k brings me an average of 30-100$ per post depending upon many other things.
  • DA and PA- Get a DA above 15 and 50% of advertisers will be ready to accept your blog. PA in this case matters less. 
  • Social Stats- As mentioned above, this thing is just looked up by top advertisers who are willing to pay a good amount, so the social stats must be good enough to impress them. 
  • Competition- Try to get some low rate reviews initially (like 1-2 posts) since it will show your blog's trust to future advertisers. 
  • Ranking- Well if your blog follows the above 4 points, then it is obvious that your posts are getting indexed and ranked well on search engines. 

And now here comes again!! What??? I mean some more questions that might have come in your mind. So How to get advertisers once we fulfill all the above points ??

Once your blog gets some good stats, I mean once it fulfills the above points then it is obvious that your blog is creating a buzz in your niche and thus it will not be a difficult task for advertisers to reach your blog. So, once you get good stats you will automatically start getting advertisers mails in your inbox and thus you will be easily making like 20-100$+ per post.

One of the best ways to get Paid posts or Sponsored Review is by signing up on different Marketplaces and get your blog listed in it. Many advertisers still prefer to give Paid reviews through such sites as these marketplaces becomes a source of trust between the publisher and the advertiser. Moreover no cheating or scams can take place through it. 

Some top Sponsored Posts Marketplaces are: 

  • SponsoredReviews.com - One of the best and the most trusted site where you can easily get advertisers who can pay upto 200$ per post. I got 50$ once through this site by just adding a link of advertiser in any one of my post.  Join this site now. The only con of this site is that they keep 50% of what the advertisers pays. 
  • PostJoint - This is a small marketplace but still effective if your blog stands on top with the stats. Join PostJoint.
  • PayPerPost- One more site, which I just found out googling last week. Do give it a try, join now
  • BuySell.reviews- This is just a new site started by my friend and me, its still in the intial stages but once we get completed with everything you can earn upto 100$ per post using this site. Join it now

There are many more marketplaces that can be found up by googling. I've just listed out the one's which I used. Here is a list of 10 more such sites that pay you for writing posts on your blog.


  • Google Search 
Well you must be confused?? Hmm!! But wait, its true that we can use Google Search to get Paid posts on our blog. Let me explain you the whole process.

First of all you have to find new advertisers under your niche, this can be done very easily by just performing a Google Search. Let's for example search for a keyword "Email Marketing".

You can see that some ads of different companies/sites will be coming in google search results. Now all you need to do is target these companies. So just select some 3-5 NEW companies from the ads and open up their links, find their contact page/id and shoot them with a mail asking for a paid review of their service.

There are 80% chances that these sites will pay you for a sponsored review on your blog since they are already investing in Google Adwords. 


  • Competitor Blog
Again a new thing!! You might be confused again?? Are you ?? Well its natural since these things are quite new. So what do I mean by this Competitor Blog? 

Note: By Competitor Blog, I just mean a better blog of someone else (maybe your friend) under your same niche.

Lets come to the point directly!! No matter what niche your blog is on, you will always be having some competitor blogs. So in this technique we will take advantage of their blog.

How to do this: 
  • First off, make a list of all top blogs under your niche in a notepad file.
  • Now open each blog one by one and check if that blog have posted any sponsored post  recently or not, if YES just note down the advertiser/company/product name that your competitor blog have reviewed. 
  • Repeat this for all of your competitor blogs and within just 10 minutes you will be having a list of around 15 different products. 
  • Now what you have to do is just open up these product sites, get their contact id and mail them asking for writing a paid review of their service. 
  • There are 80% chances that you will be approved. 

This method works like a charm as in this way we are directly going to contact only those advertisers who firstly have their product/service that fall under your niche and then secondly they have already paid other blogs for writing a review for their service. So it is obvious that they will pay you as well for writing one review. 


How much you Can Earn From A Single Review?

This heading ain't that much important in this post but I still prefer to make things look cool and I want you all to know the power of Paid reviews. 

Basically a good ranked website (as per ALEXA)  like iftiSEO.com can get upto 200$ per post, but to be frank I get an average of 60$ per post which is a good amount for a single review.

If you just write 4 sponsored reviews per month which is really an easy task then you can easily make 50*4=200$ minimum per month only through sponsored posts. Isn't it good ?? Many top blogs with such ranks even get 200$ per post and they are easily making 500+$ per month only through sponsored reviews and paid posts. So with this, you might have understood the power of it.

  • Only accept Paid posts and reviews that comes under your blog category/niche to maintain your readership and subscribers.
  • Don't compromise with regular posts, continue with regular posting of fresh quailty articles.

What are DoFollow & Nofollow Links in Blogging

Well before starting you must know what is a DoFollow Link and what is a NoFollow Link. Since the post is on some other title, I will just give you an overview of it.

No Follow Link: Links which are not Crawled by Google Bot and moreover do not pass any Link juice. They do not help you increase your Page Rank and Rankings.

Do Follow Link: Such Links are crawled by Google Bots and spiders. Having DoFollow links to your blog will help you increase your rankings, Authority and Page rank.

How to Check Whether Link is Dofollow or Nofollow 

Download and install the NoFollow Extension in your browser. Once installed it will outline all the nofollow links on the page.

For Mozilla FireFox users, there is a different extension named NoDoFollow.

It's quite simple, the NoFollow extension outlines nofollow links which are marked with rel='nofollow' and links on pages with nofollow robots meta tag. It outlines it as soon as the webpage gets loaded completely. its basically a dofollow and nofollow checker.

  • It allows you to add sites in "Exception Lists"
  • You can setup your own custom CSS for outlining NoFollow Links
  • You can easily enable and Disable the extension.

Pigeon Update: Google Updates Local Search Algorithm

After the recent Panda and Penguin updates, Google recently released a new Local Search Algorithm. The main objective of this update is to provide the users more relevant and accurate local search results.

The Update is named as "Pigeon Update" by Search Engine Land since Google have not given any name to it. The changes will be seen on local google web results as well as on Google maps. 

This update has currently rolled for the US English results. Google haven't shared any information on when it will be available more widely for different countries and other language based searches.

The changes have rolled out to both the Google Maps search results and Google Web search results. Google told me that the new local algorithm has "deeper into their web search capabilities, including the hundreds of ranking signals they use in web search along with search features such as Knowledge Graph, spelling correction, synonyms and more." It also has better accuracy over distance and location rankings.


YELP Problem Solved!!

This update has overcomed the YELP problem. YELP earlier had accused Google of manipulating the search results by showing Google's own directory listings instead of showing Yelp listings even if the user searched for YELP listing.

More Details 

  • Yelp, TripAdvisor, Zagat, Urbanspoon got improvement in their ranking. Most of them are back on page 1
  • Only US English results are affected currently
  • Google said that this new algorithm will improve the distance and location ranking parameters and moreover will aim to provide a more useful and relevant experience for searchers seeking local results, although it will make it more difficult for individual businesses to rank in the search results.

Google Structured Data Testing Tool have also been updated now, and it now shows only the Author name linked with Google+ Profile.

Now what's next 

Well this is the question that will be arising in the minds of many authors who had their aurthorship images and Circle counts in Searh results. While the others who still weren't able to get authorship seems to be quite satisfied with it.

What now !!!

It was seen that user's preffered to click more of those links that had author pics on it as it looked quite genuine and trust worthy. But what now!! The answer will be quite clear after doing a good study of our analytic reports.

It's clear that this will affect search traffic dramatically, Ranking may not be affected but yes user behaiviour towards search and their clicks will change.

Changes I need to do 

Well I've seen many WordPress users having authorship plugins installed into their blogs, so Since the authorship chapter is now over I recommend you to remove those plugins as they are useless now and are just increasing your page size and load. 

A search extract from WP. It cleary shows that there are 100s of such plugins and if you do some research every 5 blogger on WP is using one such plugin
